Aesthetic crown lengthening and gums contouring

Sometimes the teeth appear quite small in relation to the gum tissue.

This can create an unattractive "Gummy" smile.

An uneven gum line can also be distracting. The gum line, and the bone just beneath the gum line, can be corrected to change the appearance of your smile. This can create a more even gum line and make the teeth appear longer and give you a more confident smile.

"Gingival (gum) contouring" is the process of reshaping the gum tissue alone. "Crown lengthening" refers to reshaping of both gums and the underlying supporting bone.

Procedure:

The Dentist administers local anaesthesia and gently reshapes the excess gum tissue and underlying bone if required to lengthen your teeth and reduce gumminess.

Note: However if tooth size is normal and still you have gummy smile due to excess of upper jaw bone it requires surgical correction of upper jaw with "Orthognathic surgery". You can schedule an appointment with our specialist Dr.Naman Vora who can help you to find out what is right treatment option to enhance your smile.

What post-operative care should I take?

Avoid hot and spicy food for a day. Brush gently over treated area and avoid smoking as it interrupts the healing procedure. Warm saline gargles can be started from the next day to maintain the oral hygiene.
